Onsen

Rules & Manners of Japanese onsen

At most onsen, you cannot wear a swimsuit.

Men and women are usually separated but in Manza Onsen area we have mixed.

You may not be admitted to the public bath if you have tatoos in your body. We have hotels that have private ones so you can consider staying in that type of hotels.

1. Do not drink too much alcohol before entering the bath, but drink some water to prevent dehydration.

2. As you enter the changing room, there will be a basket or a locker for your belongings so put all your belongings and clothes in it.

3. Do not use your phone in the changing room or the bathing area.

4. Before you soak in the bathtub, wash your body and rinse off all the soap.

5. Do not put towels in the bathtub.

6. Dry yourself lightly off with your towel before leaving the bathing area in order to keep the changing room’s floor dry.

Kazawa Onsen's spring quality is a hydrogen carbonate spring that is good for skincare. We have a history that a deer took this hot spring to heal the wound so that it's popular for the people who want to recover their health with hot springs.
